Okay, so I actually have lots to say. And I've been meaning to post but the only time I think of writing is when I'm at work. And for the very obvious reasons, that doesn't work out so well.
I've been really getting fed up with this gut that I'm developing. I'll total blame it on being happily married and living a very nice, stress-free life. I just keep remembering what I looked like when I met my husband and it definitely was not how I currently look. I want my pants to fit and my shirts to look good.
I was taking this workout class at the Parks and Rec department in my home town, but it's a small town and I work long hours so there were only a few classes that worked for me and they were very strange. Not quite what I was looking for...at all.
I then decided that 'hey, running doesn't suck. Perhaps I should run.' But I know me and if there's not a deadline, I won't do it. I figured a half-marathon would be a good starting place. Won't kill me but will still push me. So I found a training schedule online and have been doing what it tells me to.
I was very excited when I learned that this one route I was taking was actually five miles and not four. I did five miles and it didn't kill me! Very exciting. I'm a bit nervous about the 8 mile distance, but I'm sure once I do it, it will be fine.
I signed up for a 5k through my husband's school- a fun run with pets. I think that will be a good introduction to the whole racing scene. And then I also signed up for a 10k. Now I put out my money before I realized that it's a trail run...and not a street race. There are no real trails around my town to practice on...plenty of roads...but no trails. Now I'm nervous about trail running. But I'll go to the town next door (that has hills and trails) to practice and perhaps sometimes during my lunch hour on the Hill. I'm sure it won't be as bad as I'm thinking it will be, but still, practice is a must.
When this running idea was fermenting I signed up for an aerobic dance class through the local community college. It's good! The teacher has been doing it for 30 years so she knows how to teach and how to make you work a bit. It's also three days a week so I have things to keep me busy while the husband is studying.
This gut is going down! hehe.

Goodbye lil christy belly! Way to push yourself to do it. I'm VERY impressed! And I'm sure the trails won't be that bad. Just get some good shoes with ankle support so you don't roll one on a rock... you'll do great!
